A person who spiked candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two children aged nine and ten years old.

The accused was taken into custody after eight children and an older person became sick at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he managed.

The man conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".

She stated to the judge the defendant had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.

The legal representative continued: "This year his stepson had worries about the activities, with valid cause.

"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said materials including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his worries.

She said the defendant went on to play the "treat game" with six boys that evening - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she added.

The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the events.

Mrs Prior said the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities once more.

She explained the man then conducted the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
